Consultants at K2 Consulting Group are trained and experienced in the assessment and management of contaminated soils and groundwater. Our quick, effective and practical approach in contamination management puts us at the forefront of today’s emerging contamination management market.
We offer all stages of contaminated site assessments:
Phase I – Preliminary Site Investigation (PSI)
This involves desktop study and review of information from government portal, aerial imagery, historic activities on site from land ownership, that could lead to any potential contamination – If you are buying a property, and you are concerned about any environmental risk from previous activities – we recommend you to start at this process and minimise your risk from unknown contamination sources.
Phase II – Detailed Site Investigation (DSI)
This investigation is usually undertaken if sources of contamination are identified in Phase I study and identifies the depth, extent and the level of contamination on site. It involves in intrusive study of the site such as soil and groundwater sampling. All data are compared with the relevant commonwealth and state guidelines and a report is provided with detailed information on possible contamination within the site.
Phase III – Remediation Action Plan (RAP)
If contamination is identified in Phase II investigation, a Remediation Action Plan is developed. This plan will propose the possible remediation strategies, to manage contamination, based on the land use and development.
Phase IV – Validation Assessment (VAL)
Upon completion of remediation objectives outlined in Phase III investigation, validation sampling programme is undertaken to ensure that the soils were remediated to meet the required health and environmental standards. This is the final stage of assessment, and if the soil quality meets the relevant standards, the investigation can be considered completed. Where complete clean up is not feasible containment and ongoing monitoring will be required post-validation.
